Self-Sabotage
"To deliberately destroy, damage, or obstruct ones self." Peter stepped out of the boat, was walking on water, and then BAM, doubt overtook him (Matthew 14:29-31). Such a perfect example of self-sabotage; Peters got it going on, everything is perfect. Seriously, think about it, HE WAS WALKING ON WATER! But Peter decided he couldn't do it. That simple; he told God He was wrong. I can hear him saying, "you got the wrong guy God, I can't walk on water, I'm not good enough. I'm not qualified, I'm busy, I'm weak..." Isn't that what we do? We question God. We pray for God to "direct our paths," or "heal us," or "give us wisdom," etc. Then when He does we say, "are you sure?"
What if we replace our doubt with truth? We are made in His image, male and female, He created each of us (Genesis 1:27). I think maybe He who created me, might know me better than me! He who wrote my story, might have a better idea of what I can and can't do, than I do (Hebrews 12:2). He who provided me with a helper, might understand I need help, and give me exactly what I need to do all He asks (John 14:16, & Philippians 4:13).
He will not put the water in front of me, and ask me to walk on it, without providing a way to do so (Philippians 4:19).
Self-sabotage, yes sometimes I do! Today, when God ask's me to walk on water, I will take his hand, smile, and start walking!
